So it really all started on this… a 1992 Specialized Stumpjumper Pro, outfitted with Suntour XC Pro MD Drivetrain, huge bar-ends and fully rigid 😃 How time’s change! I loved this bike and raced it extensively during my time at university until it was mysteriously stolen, with all the blue pimply Ringle bits, from a supposedly secure government building in London. I wonder if it’s still out there somewhere?
Fortunately, I was insured and was able to replace the ‘Stumpie’ with one of my all-time favourite bikes, which I still own, a 1996 Dekerf Team Frameset from the helpful team at Magic Cycles in Whitechapel - who are sadly no longer open.
