What are you proud of?
Putting in the training since my accident in April 2016 and having a sense of adventure and willingness to 'jump off cliffs together'

What have you done?
Lots of MTB races, PdS, and raced the Trans Hajar in Oman in 2016 with a credible 4th place finish - my first multi-stage MTB race https://vimeo.com/157913903. We visited Nepal in 2013 where we rode from Pokhara to Kathmandu, and got engaged on a mountain. Recently completed my first 24-hour MTB Race and think I’m hooked!

What are you scared of?
Missing out on opportunities to try new things, not making the best use of every day and spending time with the people you love.

What are you up to?
Training hard for JoBerg2c with Jenn 😃 with the long term aim of riding the Tour Divide. Planning for change and new adventures.

What are you proud of?
When I met John, we decided we wanted to 'jump off cliffs together’, and we’ve been doing that ever since (sometimes resulting in a mouthful of desert sand). We are living our lives authentically from one adventure to the next, setting big goals, and celebrating at every milestone. I am so proud of John and his amazing recovery after his cycling accident in April 2015, and the shared goal we set of racing JoBerg2C together as a way to move forward.

What have you done?
I’ve always loved cycling, but never knew what was possible on a bike until I met John. One of my biggest accomplishments has been taking up cycling in my late 30’s and challenging myself to be more and more competitive each year, starting with the dunes of Qatar, the hills of southern Spain, the mountains of Nepal, and leading up to South Africa this April. Since starting in 2014, I keep moving the goal posts to continue challenging myself. It keeps getting better and more interesting!

What are you scared of?
JoBerg2C!! 😃 It will be my biggest physical challenge yet! I am currently motivated by the fear of the unknown of this race. I am setting my intentions around doing everything I possibly can to prepare, and then letting the rest go…when we arrive in South Africa, things will play out how they are supposed to. I will just have to trust that whatever needs to happen will happen, and believe that my training and preparation will prepare me for everything that is within my control.

What are you up to?
Training 6 days a week for JoBerg2c with John takes up most of our time. We have a great circle of friends whom we meet up with as often as we can to unwind and catch up on non-cycling topics (if we can restrain ourselves from talking about our Strava segments, bike gear, and future cycling holidays!). I’m also building my own leadership coaching practice - check out my website jennwicks.com to see what I’m up to in my coaching these days.
